Qualified applicants were invited as the four provinces of Canada unveiled the results of their most recent Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) round, which took place from May 5-12.
Moreover, on May 10th, 589 ITAs were issued to Express Entry candidates as part of the PNP. To qualify, candidates had to obtain a minimum score of 691 on the CRS. Express Entry was drawn for the fourth time in 2023 only for PNPs.
The province introduced the PNP in 1998 to encourage economic migration that will contribute positively to the economy of the province. Instead of concentrating on the benefits of immigration in a few urban areas. This initiative aims to distribute them throughout the country. Except for Quebec and Nunavut, each province and territory in Canada has its own PNP programs. In an exclusive agreement with the federal government, Quebec has been granted the power to choose economic immigrant residents.
May 5-12 PNP results released
Ontario
Ontario held four draws during the course of the previous week and sent invitations to a total of 5,196 applicants.
A targeted draw for IT jobs under the Express Entry Human Capital Priorities Stream was held by the province on May 5th, inviting 1,863 applicants. These candidates are required to receive a CRS ranking of 475 to 482.
Additionally, Ontario held a separate draw on May 8th that was focused on jobs in the healthcare industry. With a minimum CRS score of 427, a total of 2,349 applicants in the Express Entry Human Capital Priorities stream were invited.
Additionally, two draws took place on May 9. The initial draw included 584 participants from the Employer Job Offer: International Student Stream. Candidates needed an SAT score of at least 62 to be taken into consideration for the program.
On May 9, 400 candidates were selected to take part in the second draw for the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker Stream. A minimum score of 43 was required for individuals who resided in Canada and had job offers in particular skilled crafts occupations.
Quebec
On May 1st, Quebec conducted a draw to select 802 candidates for permanent selection as Quebec Regular Skilled Workers. A minimum score of 571 was required for each candidate. May 4th marked the publication of the results of the draw.
The province focused its efforts on individuals with a range of National Occupational Classification codes in addition to those with employment outside the Montreal Metropolitan Community.
The Quebec government selects all economic immigrants within the province. But the candidates must still apply to IRCC to become permanent residents.
British Columbia
A targeted draw was conducted on May 9th for the Express Entry stream and the Skilled Worker stream of the BC PNP. Approximately 150 candidates applied.
Moreover, most of the applicants with tech occupations were selected through the SIRS. A similar process to BC’s Citizenship and Immigration Registration System.
Furthermore, 34 early childhood educators were targeted in the remaining three draws, and 23 healthcare workers were targeted in the third draw. As well as a few other priorities occupations were targeted in the fourth draw. SIRS scores of 60 were required for each draw.
Prince Edward Island
A small draw was conducted by PEI for its Labour and Express Entry streams. The draw selected 122 participants. May 4 was the date of the draw.
Additionally, it is no surprise that Prince Edward Island has one of the highest PNP admission rates among provinces and territories in Canada. Even though it is the smallest jurisdiction there is. Census 2021 statistics indicate that PEI has the third-highest percentage of recent economic immigrants qualified to apply for provincial nominations.
