Manitoba invites skilled workers in the May 2025 PNP draw. The latest draw, held on May 1, 2025, focused on candidates currently living outside Canada.
Through the Skilled Worker Overseas stream, the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) issued 26 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs). These candidates were considered under a strategic recruitment initiative.
To be eligible for this round, candidates had to meet all stream criteria and receive a direct invitation from the MPNP under a strategic initiative. Additionally, candidates need to have a minimum ranking score of 727.
Among the 26 individuals invited, seven had valid Express Entry profiles along with job seeker validation codes.
What Are Strategic Recruitment Initiatives?
As Manitoba invites skilled workers in the May 2025 PNP draw, let us discuss what are strategic recruitment initiatives.
Well, strategic recruitment initiatives help Manitoba employers bring in skilled international workers when local talent is unavailable.
To take part, employers must meet provincial eligibility requirements related to the positions they are hiring for and complete Manitoba’s ABC Recruitment Process.
After approval, employers can recommend eligible international candidates to Manitoba’s Employer Services.
Candidates selected through strategic initiatives must meet all stream-specific requirements and additional conditions related to education, language, experience, and age.
Preference is often given to candidates planning to settle outside the Winnipeg Metropolitan Region, aligning with local labor market needs.
Understanding the Skilled Worker Overseas Stream
Manitoba continues to support immigration through its Skilled Worker Overseas stream, aimed at attracting workers with strong ties to the province.
These ties can include:
- Support from close relatives or friends living in Manitoba
- Previous work or study experience in Manitoba
- A formal invitation through a strategic recruitment initiative
Candidates must also score at least 60 points on the MPNP assessment grid, which evaluates language proficiency, work experience, age, adaptability, and other factors.
This stream remains an essential pathway to permanent residence for qualified foreign nationals committed to building their future in Manitoba.
