On August 12 Manitoba sent out invitations to 275 immigrants to apply for a provincial nomination.
The candidates who have been invited are eligible to apply for a nomination from the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP). The nomination itself will support the candidate’s final application for a permanent residency in Canada
The following are the results of the latest draw:
- Skilled Workers in Manitoba- A total of 238 invitations with a minimum EOI score of 454;
- Skilled Workers Overseas- 6 invitations with a minimum EOI score of 719; and
- International Education Stream – 31 invitations with no EOI score requirement.
A total number of 36 invitations went to Express Entry candidates also known as Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs).
More about Manitoba immigration Programs
MPNP helps Manitoba to manage its immigration program that supports immigration applications to the federal government. Canadian provinces do not have the power to give out a permanent residency status. They can only help an application by issuing provincial nominations.
To benefit from a nomination from Manitoba, you first have to register an Expression of Interest with the MPNP. This way, you would be able to receive an LAA through two streams which are- Skilled Workers in Manitoba and Skilled Workers Overseas.
The candidates are ranked out of 1,000 points based on their human capital factors and connections by the Manitoba province.
Both of these streams are formulated to enable the Manitoba province to identify the candidates who particularly meet the state’s labor market requirements. The overseas candidates need to show their connections to Manitoba through blood relatives, previous experience in the province, or an invitation through Manitoba’s Strategic Recruitment Initiatives. One does not necessarily have to be residing in the province to be qualified for these initiatives.
To receive an invitation under the Skilled Workers in Manitoba category, one needs to have a full-time job offer from an employer in Manitoba.
Foreign graduates who complete their education in Manitoba can receive an invitation under the International Education Stream if they can prove that they have in-demand skills.
What is Express Entry?
Express Entry System is for permanent residency applications for the three federal high-skilled immigration programs which are: The Canadian Experience Class, the Federal Skilled Worker Program, and the Federal Skilled Trades Program.
Through Express Entry you can receive a permanent residence invitation without going through the PNP process. Although, having a provincial nomination will immediately guarantee that Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada will send you an invitation to apply for Canadian permanent residence, given the 600-point award.
At the time of submitting your profile, you are ranked according to the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), which evaluates you on factors like age, work experience, education, and language skills among others. The candidates who score the highest receive invitations to apply for permanent residence through the systematic Express Entry Draws.
