The latest Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) results are out, with invitations issued by the Canadian provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, and Manitoba.
Governments at all levels view PNPs as helpful mechanisms for dispersing immigration-related economic benefits away from large urban centers. Immigration in Canada is shared between the federal government and the provinces.
A province may nominate persons they believe are best positioned for integration and economic success in the province, making the nomination part of the PNP. As soon as a candidate receives a nomination through the PNP. The process of becoming a permanent resident is usually less challenging.
It is not enough that a candidate is nominated by a province to guarantee their chance of becoming a permanent resident. In addition to their separate applications, they must also submit them to IRCC.
