An online system known as Express Entry manages applications for the CEC, FSTP, and FSWP. For the purpose of bringing talented foreign workers as permanent residents, Express Entry is Canada’s primary strategy. Changes to Express Entry are likely to occur in 2023, here you will find the summary of these changes.
Changes in Express Entry in 2023
In order to help meet the unique labor shortages and demands of Canadian businesses. IRCC will begin holding targeted Express Entry draws in 2023.
By passing Bill C-19, Express Entry will be purposefully targeted at individuals with Canadian permanent residence. It is based on their profession, language, and educational background. This step will be taken to identify those who will contribute to the growth and prosperity of Canada the most.
As the minister of immigration for Canada, Sean Fraser argues, Express Entry’s all-program draws do not do enough to help Canada attract foreign citizens whose skills and qualifications closely match its most in-demand needs.
In order to determine the specifics of the new format, the IRCC will consult with a wide range of stakeholders. According to its current state of knowledge, it hasn’t yet decided which occupational, linguistic, or educational categories will be incorporated into the new drawings.
Why does this matter?
It will continue to conduct Express Entry draws as usual until further notice. CRS scores will determine how many invitations ITAs for Canadian PR applicants will receive every two weeks. And so through each of the three Express Entry programs.
Express Entry applicants are chosen primarily based on their CRS scores. Several factors contribute to this, such as age and language proficiency. As well as Canadian work experience, are taken into consideration when awarding ITAs.
Express Entry, however, will stop emphasizing CRS scores in 2023 in favor of holding draws. This addresses specific labor market needs and deficits, helping Canada better focus on addressing these in the coming years.
As a result of these targeted draws, Canada’s labor market is expected to be improved and, according to Minister Fraser, “retention rates [among people who settle in specific communities] will likely increase because people will come where they know they will be able to get jobs because they have been invited to apply for those jobs.”
