On the 26th of October 2021, the province of Alberta had held a draw that invited 284 candidates from the Express Entry pool to apply for a Provincial Nomination in Alberta.
The least required score set by the provincial government was 300. It depended upon the eligibility of the candidates for who would receive invitations for the Express Entry.
This draw is the sixth consecutive draw to be held that had a base score requirement of 300 only. 300 CRS score is also the minimum score required to be allowed in the Alberta Express Entry stream.
Since the starting of this year, the province of Alberta has invited a total number of 6,158 candidates in the Express Entry who will be potentially applying for a provincial nomination. During the time of the pandemic, Alberta had taken a break in the last few months of 2020. But since the draws have been resumed the province now grants nomination certificates and calls for candidates from the Express Entry pool to settle in Canada as a permanent residents.
In total, 6,250 candidates have received a nomination certificate this year and since then the number of invitations being issued has lessened. In other words, it also suggests that there is a chance that the province will be issuing more provincial nomination certificates this year.
Process of the Alberta Express Entry Stream
The Alberta Express Entry stream is a better version of PNP. Through Alberta Express Entry System, the provincial authorities are enabled to scan through the Express Entry Pool and look for candidates whose profiles are most suited for the province’s PNP.
The Express Entry under the federal government is responsible to manage applications that come from the three main programs designed for skilled workers which are: Federal Skilled Trades Program FSTP, Federal Skilled Worker Program FSWP, and Canadian Experience Class CEC.
Once you are allowed in the Express Entry you will be granted a score that would be analyzed on the human capital factors and your past records. The point score system is named as Comprehensive Ranking System. The human capital factors considered are age, employment profile, past experience, language proficiency, IELTS score, past work experience and so much more.
The highest-scoring candidates are then called by IRCC. IRCC grants invitation to these top scorers through the regularly held draws and encourages them to settle in Canada with a PR status.
There are several other effective ways to immigrate to Canada too apart from the Express Entry or a provincial nomination. PNP is for those candidates who have a low CRS score. This is because once you are selected for a provincial nomination you will automatically get an extra 600 points calculated in your total CRS score. For instance, even the least scoring candidate if nominated by Alberta will manage to increase his new CRS score to 900, which will be ample to be invited in the next Express Entry draw.
Alberta Express Entry Stream eligibility
To be allowed for a PNP via Alberta Express Entry stream, the candidate is needed to have employment experience in a valid job profile.
According to the AINP, there is a list of occupations that are not eligible for this stream. Jobs in the food service departments and transport business are the ones who are eligible to apply.
There are other factors too that support your case of getting nominated. Canadian education, work experience, or an employment offer from the province of Alberta. If the candidate has a close relative already residing in Alberta that’s an additional brownie point right there!
