Canada is planning to start a new migration program for temporary national workers and international students.
The immigration minister of Canada Sean Fraser said the new immigration program will become a permanent route for the temporary resident. It would not be the same as the TR2PR (Temporary Residence to Permanent Residence). Last year 90,000 essential workers and international students immigrated through this program.
“We’re looking at the best route right now to create a permanent route for temporary residents,” Fraser said.
Soon after the Minister of Immigration, Fraser was assigned to “extend the avenues of permanent residence to international students and temporary national workers”. The immigration minister has 120 days to create a strategy to accomplish these goals as determined by the resolution passed in the house of commons in Canada.
Further details of the new program will be available by September 8 when Fraser’s 120 expires.
Changes in Express Entry
Express Entry invitations for FSWP – (Federal Skilled Worker Program) and CEC – (Canadian Experience Class) candidates will start again in the month of July, that’s not the only update that is coming in the Express Entry system.
C-19 Bill amendment is now going through the parliament on the way to becoming a law. This would empower Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to invite Express Entry candidates to a pool based on economic goals, such as occupation, French-language ability, or education credentials.
IRCC will be required to engage in a public consultation process to help them select which groups of Express Entry candidates will be invited to such draws. In addition, the IRCC should report annually to Parliament describing the economic target sought in each instance.
Ways to get PR in Canada
While it is not always necessary to be in Canada to be eligible for an immigration program, studies have shown that immigrants with experience in Canada have higher wages and more instances of employment in the early years after landing, which directly to migration.
Canadian study and work experience can also open doors to many more immigration programs.
To study in Canada, you need to be accepted into a Designated Educational Institution (DLI) and obtain a study permit. If you graduate from a full-time program of at least eight months, you may be eligible for a Postgraduate Work Permit (PGWP), which is used by many Canadians to gain work experience.
A candidate needs a work permit to work in Canada. There are more than 100 options for work permits available which are divided into two large categories, that is TFWP (Foreign Worker Program) and IMP (International Mobility Program) work permit. The main difference is that TFWP work permits require employers to complete a Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA), whereas IMP work permits exist to support Canada’s economic, social and cultural priorities. IMP work permits are LMIA-free because the work performed by these work permit holders has been shown to be of significant benefit to Canada, or is the result of a reciprocal agreement with another country.
Ways to migrate via Express Entry
Express Entry is an online immigration application management system that manages three immigration programs in Canada that are FSWP – (Federal Skilled Workers Program,) FSTP – (Federal Skilled Trade Program), and CEC – (Canadian, Skilled Trade Program). Those applicants who want to migrate to Canada through Express Entry have to be qualified for one of these programs.
Those applicants who are in the pool of Express Entry will get a score based on CRS by IRCC. The CRS takes into account your work experience in a skilled occupation, study experience, official language ability, age, and other economic factors. Candidates who score higher in CRS from the pool are more likely to get an ITA for permanent residence in Canada. Express Entry candidates in the pool may be invited to apply for provincial enrollment through a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). If you respond to the invitation and are enrolled, you will be awarded an additional 600 CRS points. This bonus will effectively guarantee that you will receive ITA in subsequent Express Entry draws.
ITA is the key to applying for Canadian immigration through Express Entry. Once IRCC has received your response to the ITA, their processing standard for responding is six months. The pandemic has, however, slowed down the actual processing time. The current waiting time is available on the IRCC web page.
