Canada’s two provinces released their Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw results last week, and Quebec held a recent draw via Arrima.
Most provinces and regions of Canada held their own provincial nominee program to invite foreign candidates to immigrate to Canada. Those candidates who are interested to migrate to Canada are invited for provincial nomination via these programs. Although provincial nomination itself is not the same as a permanent residence, it is the medium that increases the chances of obtaining permanent residence status. For example, those PNP candidates who have a profile on Express Entry receive a sum of 600 points which are added to their score and they are eligible to apply for a PNP-specific round of invites.
It was introduced in 1998 and 400 foreign immigrants are welcomed through the PNP, every year more than 80,000 people are invited through the PNP because of its success. Most of the PNP candidates are enrolled in Canada because the government of the provincial and federal consider that it is an effective tool to boost the country’s economic development.
Quebec has more control over the migration system of Canada compared to any other province in Canada. This is the primary reason it does not participate in the PNP draws and held its own draw.
Those who want to migrate to Canada through the province’s migration system are generally required to submit a profile for an expression of interest pool of the province which is called Arrima. Candidates whose profiles meet the eligibility criteria for a migration program are invited by the province to apply for permanent residence. Those candidates who are invited can apply for the CSQ in Quebec.
Here are the results of last week’s PNP draw and the Arrima draws which were held the last week in the provinces of BC, PEI, and Quebec respectively.
