Canada has unveiled its Immigration Levels Plan for 2021-23. Canada will target to welcome a large number of immigrants in its immigration history.

This is a major step taken by the Canadian Government regarding the immigration targets despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
Immigration Levels Plan: It is a crucial immigration update that is made by the federal government each year. Through the levels plan, Canada outlines the count of new permanent residents that it will admit under the various immigration categories.
On March 12, 2020, the government declared that Canada aspires to welcome more than one million new immigrants during the years 2020 to 2022. However, a few days later, Canada had to close its borders and implement travel restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, it is highly likely that Canada won’t be able to meet the target of welcoming 341,000 permanent residents this year. Despite holding the regular Express Entry and Provincial Nominee Program draws, Canada might fall short of the immigration target.
