British Columbia held a PNP draw and invited 354 immigration candidates

British Columbia has conducted the latest PNP draw on October 27. It has invited 354 immigration candidates through the two streams of the BC Provincial Nominee Program: Skills Immigration and Express Entry British Columbia. Candidates needed a minimum provincial score according to the different sub-categories of EEBC and SI in order to be invited by the province.

The required minimum scores were:

EEBC: Skilled Worker, 92 points
EEBC: International Graduate, 93 points
SI: Skilled Worker, 93 points
SI: International Graduate, 94 points
SI: Entry Level and Semi-Skilled, 75 points

The BC PNP invited candidates from three sub-categories of Skills Immigration and two sub-categories of Express Entry. British Columbia conducts PNP draws typically every week. On September 29, the province held the largest draw of 2020 by inviting more than 400 immigration candidates.

British Columbia: Skills Immigration Registration System

To apply for the immigration streams of the BC PNP, a candidate must register himself or herself under the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS) of the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program. Then, a candidate has to create a profile through the online portal in either of the categories – Skills Immigration or Express Entry BC. Immigration candidates who apply to the BC PNP through the Skills Immigration and Express Entry categories get points as per their profiles. The SIRS considers human capital and economic factors to give points to candidates.

Immigration applicants get points based on the following factors:

Candidate’s qualification, work experience, and language proficiency
Skill type of job offer
Location of employment
Minimum wage

The province selects the highest-scoring candidates to apply for a British Columbia provincial nomination.

Express Entry BC

British Columbia has a stream that is directly linked to the federal Express Entry system. It is the Express Entry British Columbia stream. Applicants can apply for provincial nomination under the following categories of the Express Entry BC:

Skilled Workers;
International Graduates;
International post-graduates

Please note: Candidates who apply through the Express Entry BC stream must also be eligible for one of three express entry programs: Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker, or Federal Skilled Trades.

Skills Immigration

The other immigration stream through which candidates can apply is Skills Immigration. Skilled workers, International Graduates, and Post-graduates can apply through this stream if they do not have an express entry profile. If a candidate successfully receives provincial nomination through the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program, he or she can apply to the IRCC for Canadian Permanent Residence under the PNP category.
