Alberta holds new immigration draws for skilled workers, i.e., Between May 1 and May 13, the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) conducted four separate draws targeting healthcare workers, tech professionals, and candidates interested in living and working in rural communities.
A total of 1,051 candidates received invitations to apply for provincial nomination during these selection rounds.
As of mid-May, Alberta has already conducted 36 provincial immigration draws in 2026.

The latest Alberta draws invited candidates under the following streams and pathways:
- Rural Renewal Stream
- Alberta Opportunity Stream
- Alberta Express Entry Stream – Accelerated Tech Pathway
- Dedicated Health Care Pathway – Express Entry
The Alberta Opportunity Stream issued the largest number of invitations during the latest round of draws.
This stream alone accounted for nearly 80% of all invitations issued in May.

Alberta Continues Focusing On Priority Sectors
The latest invitations match Alberta’s immigration priorities for 2026.
On its official website, the province lists healthcare workers, technology professionals, and rural immigration candidates among its top focus areas this year.
The province has consistently conducted draws under these categories throughout 2026.
Here’s the last time Alberta held draws under the same streams and pathways:
- April 13, 2026: Dedicated Health Care Pathway – Express Entry (62 invitations)
- April 8, 2026: Alberta Express Entry Stream – Accelerated Tech Pathway (146 invitations)
- April 10, 2026: Alberta Opportunity Stream (447 invitations)
- April 9, 2026: Rural Renewal Stream (74 invitations)
So far in 2026, Alberta has invited at least 6,269 candidates through the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program.
Most invitations have been issued through the Alberta Opportunity Stream, which alone has accounted for 3,857 invitations this year.
Alberta Shares Updated Nomination Figures
Alberta also released updated information about its nomination allocation for 2026.
The federal government provided Alberta with 6,403 nomination spaces for the year.
As of May 14, the province had already used 2,191 nomination spots.
This means Alberta still has 4,212 nomination spaces remaining for the rest of 2026.
The province also shared how nominations have been distributed across different streams and pathways:

Apart from its regular nomination allocation, Alberta has also used extra nomination spots to attract:
- Practice-ready physicians; and
- Francophone candidates.
The province reported issuing 50 nominations to physicians and 12 nominations to francophone candidates.
Thousands Of EOIs Remain In Alberta’s Candidate Pool
Alberta also published updated numbers for Expressions of Interest (EOIs) and applications currently waiting for decisions.
As of May 14, Alberta had 40,161 worker EOIs in its candidate pool.
This number was lower than the previous update from April 29 by 1,602 profiles.
Most EOIs currently in the pool belong to candidates under the Alberta Opportunity Stream.
The province also reported that more than 1,300 applications remain under review.
