On August 20, the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) invited 181 candidates to apply for provincial nomination.
The latest selection focused on workers already living and working in the province in priority sectors and occupations. These areas are considered important for Prince Edward Island’s economy and labour market.
The latest round was the eighth PEI PNP selection of 2026. The province has continued to focus its invitations on workers whose skills match current labour needs.
Latest PEI PNP Draw Details
The PEI PNP issued invitations through two main categories: the Labour Impact category and PEI Express Entry.
International students who graduated from one of the following three post-secondary institutions in the province received priority consideration:
- University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI)
- Holland College
- Collège de l’Île
Candidates also needed to show in their Expression of Interest (EOI) profile that they were working in a sector or occupation currently prioritized by the province.
In 2026, Prince Edward Island is focusing on skilled workers in healthcare, trades, manufacturing, and other key industries facing labour shortages.

Note: The Labour Impact category is made up of three streams: Skilled Worker, Critical Worker, and International Graduate.
All eight PEI PNP selections held this year have followed the same general selection approach. The province does not usually provide details about the exact occupations selected in each draw or show how many invitations were issued under each stream.
The August 20 draw also followed the province’s expected invitation schedule for 2026. Prince Edward Island has generally followed its published schedule, although dates can change.
With the latest round, the PEI PNP has issued 1,034 invitations for provincial nomination so far in 2026.
Unlike 2025, the province has not issued invitations through the Business Impact Category so far this year. This category provides an immigration option for eligible entrepreneurs who want to establish themselves in Prince Edward Island.
Upcoming PEI PNP Selection Rounds
The PEI PNP plans to hold 12 provincial immigration draws during 2026, with selections generally taking place once a month.
Four more selection rounds are expected before the end of the year:
- September 17.
- October 15.
- November 19.
- December 17.
The dates are only tentative. The province states that the schedule is provided for general information and may change. Additional selections may also be held if needed.
The province has usually stayed close to its published schedule. In 2025, eight of 11 draws took place on the listed dates. So far in 2026, seven of eight selections have followed the announced schedule.
How Can Candidates Be Considered For The PEI PNP?
Foreign nationals who want to immigrate to Prince Edward Island through the PEI PNP must first register through the province’s immigration portal and submit an EOI profile.
Each profile receives a score and is ranked against other candidates. The province considers several factors when reviewing profiles, including:
- Proficiency in either English or French;
- Education, including level, field, and location of study;
- Work experience and skills that correspond with in-demand occupations or priority sectors;
- How closely a candidate’s background corresponds with PEI’s current labour market needs; and
- Employment potential, such as having a PEI job offer and/or previous Canadian work experience.
The province then selects candidates who have stronger scores and whose backgrounds match its current economic and labour market needs.
Selected candidates must submit a complete provincial nomination application within 30 days.
Successful candidates receive a provincial nomination certificate. They can then submit an application for permanent residence to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
If the federal government approves the permanent residence application, the applicant receives a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR). The document allows the applicant to complete the final steps to become a permanent resident of Canada.
The latest PEI PNP draw shows that the province continues to give priority to workers whose jobs and skills match areas facing labour shortages. With four more selection rounds expected in 2026, skilled workers in priority occupations may have further opportunities to receive an invitation through the provincial program.
