Newfoundland and Labrador holds a new immigration draw, i.e., on May 28, the province conducted its sixth immigration draw of 2026, issuing a total of 103 invitations through the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) and the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP).
This was the third draw held during May, making it the busiest month for invitations so far this year. While the number of invitations was lower than in earlier draws, the province continues to regularly select candidates who may help fill labour shortages and support economic growth.
Draw Details
Most invitations issued in the latest draw went to candidates under the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program.
| Program | Invitations Issued |
| NLPNP | 84 |
| AIP | 19 |
NLPNP candidates received 84 of the 103 invitations, representing 81.6% of all invitations issued in this draw.
The province has not shared details about which NLPNP streams were included in the selection round. It has also not revealed which occupations or industries were targeted.
Although this draw was the smallest held so far in 2026, Newfoundland and Labrador has remained active throughout the year with regular invitation rounds.
The table below compares the latest draw with previous selections conducted by the Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism (OIM) in 2026:
| Date Of Draw | Invitations Issued | Invitations Issued By Program |
| March 6, 2026 | 445 | NLPNP: 362 AIP: 83 |
| March 30, 2026 | 245 | NLPNP: 209 AIP: 36 |
| April 13, 2026 | 210 | NLPNP: 177 AIP: 33 |
| May 1, 2026 | 190 | NLPNP: 157 AIP: 33 |
| May 11, 2026 | 186 | NLPNP: 168 AIP: 18 |
| May 28 | 103 | NLPNP: 84 AIP: 19 |
The numbers show a steady decline in invitation volumes since the beginning of the year. Even so, the province continues to invite candidates through both immigration programs on a regular basis.
As of May 28, Newfoundland and Labrador has issued a total of 1,379 invitations in 2026.
Most of those invitations have gone to NLPNP candidates, who account for 83.9% of all invitations issued this year.
The province has also increased its immigration activity compared with last year. Between January 1 and May 28, Newfoundland and Labrador issued 795 more invitations than it did during the same period in 2025.
During the first five months of 2025, the province held only two draws and issued a total of 584 invitations through the NLPNP and AIP combined.
How Candidates Can Be Considered For The NLPNP Or AIP?
Individuals interested in immigrating through either the NLPNP or the AIP must first submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to the province.
For most pathways under both programs, candidates need a valid job offer from an employer in Newfoundland and Labrador before they can submit an EOI. The main exception applies to entrepreneur streams under the NLPNP.
As part of the EOI process, candidates provide information about:
- Occupation
- Education
- Language proficiency
- Settlement plans in the province
The Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism reviews the submitted profiles and selects candidates who best meet the province’s labour market and economic needs.
Candidates selected under the NLPNP receive an invitation to apply for provincial nomination. Those chosen through the AIP receive an invitation to apply for endorsement.
After receiving an invitation, there is a 60 day-deadline to submit a complete application. Under the AIP, employers submit the application on behalf of the candidate, while NLPNP applicants submit their own applications.
EOIs remain valid in the candidate pool for 12 months. Once an EOI expires, a new profile must be submitted to remain eligible for future draws.
The province has also stated that it may give priority to candidates working in healthcare occupations, individuals employed outside major urban centres, those with strong potential for long-term settlement, and graduates who have established ties to Newfoundland and Labrador through local education.
