Quebec has released an updated version of those high-demand occupations for which the hiring process for temporary national workers is made easier.
The hiring procedure for foreign skilled workers is different from the rest of the employers in Canada.
Employers of Quebec can hire temporary foreign workers for some targeted professions which can be beneficial for the process that abdicates some general requirements which come under the LMIA (Labor Market Impact Assessment) process like advertising the designation and other efforts. Usually, Employers in Canada wish to hire a national worker who falls under the TFWP (Temporary Foreign Worker Program) but the applicant must obtain LMIA first to be eligible. LMIA is a document that includes a job offer letter or a contract that shows that no Canadian is able to fill the position.
Generally, every year on 24 February, the Immigration Minister of Quebec has reviewed the list of qualified occupations to facilitate the LMIA process and released an updated version which is based on the current requirements of the labor market. Quebec has released two lists from its launch date.
Recently nearly 60 professions are added to the list which is targeted for 2022-to 2023 in the released list on May 27. The newly updated job falls in the level of C under the NOC, types of included job occupations are administrative staff, sales representatives, machine workers, workers in the restaurant, drivers, and the entertainment & tourism department.
The application of the facilitated LMIA process should be approved by the federal and provincial authorities. Due to this reason, employers who want to hire national workers must have to submit the application form and supporting documents to the social deployment & deployment and MIFA of Canada.
New measures were launched to accelerate the immigration of national workers
Quebec is currently accepting the fewest immigrants in years. Also, the province’s unemployment rate—which includes immigrants—is at an all-time low. The fertility rate is getting low, and the population is getting older in Canada. The resulting statistical changes are affecting the ability to find employees by employers
employers’ ability to find employees.
To address this situation, the Quebec government has taken steps to make it easier for employers to fill positions by facilitating the recruitment process under various programs and reducing processing times for immigration applications.
There is an agreement between the immigration minister and the federal government of Canada that permits the employers of Quebec to hire 20% temporary national workers. Before this change, the percentage of this was 10%.
Additionally, a new program which is called the International Mobility Program Plus (IMP+) has just been introduced to speed up the arrival of Quebec-selected foreign workers who have not yet obtained permanent residency and who are in need of the labor market.
Every year more than 7,000 workers are get selected by the province of Quebec. Skilled workers are qualified to get an open work permit and start their job in Quebec in the duration of waiting to get permanent residence status in Canada.
