British Columbia has invited skilled workers who are employed in the essential technology occupations. Essential occupations are those that promote economic growth in the province.
The province of British Columbia has issued invitations under the new BC PNP Tech that has become a permanent program now. Candidates registered with the Skills Immigration and Express Entry BC categories received invitations in this draw.
International Graduates and Skilled Workers needed a provincial score of at least 80 points in this tech draw. They now have 30 calendar days to submit a complete application for the nomination process.
The tech draws conducted by the province are operated by the SIRS (Skills and Immigration Registration System).
What is the Skills Immigration Registration System?
The SIRS is a points-based management system that allows the province to rank candidates as per their scores and select them for permanent residence. All immigration categories under the British Columbia PNP are operated by the SIRS.
BC PNP Tech
The technology sector is crucial for economic development in British Columbia. With the rapidly growing tech sector, the need for tech workers is also rising in the province.
Thus, the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program launched the Tech Pilot in 2017 with an aim to attract talented IT professionals. Through this pilot, employers can hire talented foreign workers and international students who can address the tech market needs of the province.
Eligibility for BC PNP Tech: International students and in-demand tech workers are eligible for the tech program if they have a job offer in one of the eligible tech occupations. Also, they require a job offer of a minimum of one year and it should not be part-time.
Candidates who fulfill the eligibility requirements get invitations from the province. And once they secure invitations, their applications are processed within a period of three months only.
British Columbia has invited 6,667 immigration candidates so far this year.
