Recently, the province of Ontario shifted to the new Expression of Interest system for its Employer Job Offer category. And it held the OINP draw by inviting 940 candidates registered under the EOI.
The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program started an Expression of Interest system in March for the International Student and Foreign worker immigration streams. Now, the province has included the In-Demand Skills stream as well.
So, applicants who want to apply to the OINP under the In-Demand Skills stream will have to submit an EOI first.
Ontario has not included the Masters Graduate and Ph.D. Graduate streams of the Employer Job Offer category yet. As of now, there is no expression of interest system for these streams. However, soon the province will open the EOI platform for these streams.
Why did Ontario shift to the EOI system?
EOI system is points-based and fairer. In this system, candidates are ranked based on the points they obtain through labor market and human capital factors. The previous immigration system was based on the first-come-first-served model. And the application window opened for a few minutes only because of the cut-throat competition.

- Electronics assemblers, testers, inspectors, and fabricators;
