90% approval rate for spousal TRVs processed by IRCC in 30 days. Couples who have already applied for permanent residence in Canada are subject to the restriction. The IRCC’s decision will no longer be awaited in the home countries of applicants. But rather, they will be able to wait in Canada during their application’s processing.
Canadians and permanent residents living abroad with spouses and dependents will become more accessible to each other and can begin settling in more quickly. It is not possible for spouses and dependents on a TRV to work or study in Canada until they have been granted permanent residency or receive a work or study visa.
It was announced on May 26 by Immigration Minister Sean Fraser that a service requirement would be required. Additionally, he stated that spousal candidates had an approval rating of more than 90% on TRV.
TRV applications are being pre-screened by IRCC officers using advanced analytics before a final determination is made. The high approval rating is due to the significant use of advanced analytics by IRCC. It is through this technology that the department can assess the likelihood that an applicant will be granted permanent residency. And classify them into groups that IRCC officials are more likely to approve. Minister Fraser said that the department uses this technology to examine a variety of aspects of an applicant’s application.
Sponsorship processing time for family classes
Within 12 months, applications for permanent residency must be processed under the family class sponsorship. While awaiting IRCC’s decision on their permanent resident application, sponsored spouses, partners, and dependent children can arrive in Canada and begin working as soon as three months (90 days). IRCC has a service standard of 60 days for work permits and spousal TRVs are now processed within 30 days.
Sponsorship of a spouse, common-law partner, or conjugal partner for permanent residency may be possible for Canadian citizens or permanent residents who are willing to become financially responsible for the sponsored family for several years. The sponsorship budget changes when dependent children need to be supported as well.
Various other measures for family reunification
IRCC has released another notification along with the TRV indicating that the spouses of applicants. As well as their dependent children, have been approved for open work permits, pending the receipt of permanent resident status. Their Open Work Permit application can be submitted to IRCC as soon as they have filed a completed application for permanent residence with the agency.
An open work permit could previously only be obtained by spouses who obtained sponsorship from within the country.
As well, Fraser stated that open work permit holders can extend their permits by 18 months through a free facilitated process between August 1. As well as the end of 2023 if their current permits expire between that date and the end of the year. All permanent residents, their spouses and dependents. As well as the spouses and dependents of temporary workers will be able to apply for this extension.
