Out of the 100 world’s top cities to live in, Toronto, Ottawa, Calgary, Vancouver, and Montreal have been rated as the top five Canadian cities. On a global scale, Toronto ranked 24th out of 100 cities to live in, based on a report by Resonance Consultancy. The company specializes in branding and marketing for cities, development, destination, and districts in British Columbia.
Ranks are based on the population of cities around the world with at least one million residents. Various factors determine the rankings, such as safety, outdoor space, labor force participation, GDP, universities, and tourist attractions.
Canada’s largest city, Toronto, ranked first. Despite foreign investment and immigration, the economy grew strongly. Foreign-born residents comprise about half of the population in the city. Toronto ranks high in education rankings worldwide. Despite this, Toronto’s ranking dropped to 24th in 2022.
Despite the struggles, Kyiv has faced as a result of the Russian invasion during the last year. London earned an honorary ranking for the eighth year in a row. In contrast, Moscow, Russia’s capital, placed fourth in 2022. But both countries are completely eliminated from the list.
It has an opulent real estate market, vibrant nightlife, and international investment that makes London a popular destination. Paris, Tokyo, Rome, Amsterdam, New York, Barcelona, Madrid, and Singapore are among the best cities.
Further, the survey found that immigrants constituted a significant proportion of the population in four of the Canadian cities on the list. At 57, Montreal takes the top spot, Calgary comes in at 65, Vancouver comes in at 69, and Ottawa comes in at 96. Montreal and Calgary were rated highly for their culture and high GDP. Ottawa’s affordability and Vancouver’s natural beauty contributed to its inclusion.
Immigration targets in Canada are set at their highest level ever
500,000 new permanent residents are to be accepted into Canada under the Immigration Levels Plan 2023–2025, which was unveiled just today. Over 432,000 in 2022 surpasses the previous goals of 405,000 in 2021. As one of the most popular immigration destinations, Canada is widely known for its stability, safety, and tolerance. As a result of its large population of immigrants, the city’s economic impact, diversity, and culture are positively impacted.
It is intended that over 60% of new permanent residents will enter the country through Express Entry or another economic immigration pathway.
The aging population of Canada leaves critical gaps in the labor force that must be filled as soon as possible. Due to a low birth rate, Canada’s economy is dependent upon immigration to maintain a healthy level of employment.
An Overview of Express Entry
In most cases, immigration to Canada and permanent residency is processed through Express Entry. Through this method, applicants who qualify for FSTP (Federal Skilled Trade Program), CEC (Canadian Experience Class), and FSWP (Federal Skilled Workers Programs) are ranked against each other based on their CRS scores.
Obtaining eligibility information is essential before submitting your application for any program. A CRS score can be obtained once you register with IRCC. Several factors contribute to this score, including work history, language proficiency, educational qualifications, as well as other personal characteristics. A higher CRS increases IRCC’s likelihood of issuing an ITA to the applicant.
