Three provinces select applicants in the latest PNP results. British Columbia, Quebec, and Manitoba have issued ITAs for the same.
British Columbia and Manitoba both invitations/ Expressions of Interest in their latest Provincial Nominee Program draws. All provinces and territories have PNPs to help territorial governments select economic immigration applicants who are more likely to integrate easily into the provincial workforce.
In addition, the PNP works because immigration is a shared responsibility between federal and provincial governments. Every year, provinces obtain an allocation of nominations they might issue to applicants.
Applicants who are successful in obtaining a provincial nomination are in a stronger position to further apply to IRCC for permanent residence.
Also, Quebec has a separate agreement with the federal government, which gives it autonomy over the selection of all its economic immigrants instead of obtaining an allocation and therefore, does not need a PNP. Instead of obtaining a nomination, applicants in Quebec are invited for a Quebec Selection Certificate (CSQ).
