Super visa – What is it?
In the case of super visas, foreign parents and grandparents of Canadians and permanent residents are allowed to visit the country without reapplying for a visitor visa for up to five years at a time. Multiple entries into Canada are permitted for up to ten years for holders of Super Visas.
Applicants are no longer eligible for the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP), which offers permanent residency. Only a few spots remain in the PGP, despite its immense popularity. As a further measure of selection, IRCC conducts draws.
As opposed to the draw method used in the Super Visa. The Super Visa offers more security for applicants who wish to sponsor their parent’s or grandparents’ immigration to Canada. A Super Visa typically takes a few months to process as opposed to PGP, which may take years.
