Canada Day celebrations, a legal holiday, is celebrated by all Canadians on July 1. An anniversary celebration is held on this day to commemorate the Constitution Act. As a result of the 1867 Act, three new territories were united by consent to become part of the larger Confederation of Canada. A significant turning point in the development of Canada into a nation with ten provinces and three territories was July 1st, 1867, also known as “Canada’s Birthday.”
Fireworks, parades, picnics, and other activities are some of the ways Canadians celebrate Canada Day. Many of the celebrations that occur throughout the nation in July and August could be considered Canada Day celebrations.
It is a wonderful way to see the country during the summer, and the summer festivals in Canada are popular around the world. A few Canadian festivals are being held this summer, which will be highlighted in this post.
National Exhibition of Canada
Every year, in the last two weeks of August, Toronto hosts the Canadian National Exhibition, also called “the Ex.” With over 1.4 million visitors each year, the Ex is one of Canada’s largest fairs. Researchers, engineers, and farmers serve as ambassadors for their countries by displaying their research. Furthermore, the grounds feature food kiosks, live performances, sporting events, casino games, and a funfair.
Festival international de jazz de Montréal
Thousands of musicians from around the globe perform at the Montreal International Jazz Festival, which includes more than 650 events. Free outdoor concerts are common at these events. From June 29 to July 8, more than 200,000 people attend the festival from all over the world.
Stampede in Calgary
It is hard to ignore the Calgary Stampede as one of Canada’s most popular events. Taking place every year in July, this rodeo is integral to Calgary’s cultural heritage. For ten days, there are rodeos, parades, agricultural events, races, celebrations, and concerts at the Stampede grounds. From July 7 to July 16, the Stampede will be held this year.
Royal Nova Scotia international tattoo
From June 30 to July 3, Halifax, Nova Scotia, is home to the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo. A military demonstration, Highland dancers, and bagpipers are all part of the festival. As well as tattoo performances are held every year as part of the event. A staggering 2,000,000 spectators attend Halifax’s performances, which feature thousands of performers from around the world.
Night market in Richmond
During every year, Richmond Night Market, Richmond, British Columbia, hosts a night market. Located in North America, it’s the biggest night market in the world. The market is held every weekend during the summer from April through October. In keeping with the Summer Wonderland theme, over 600 international cuisine items will be available at 110 booths and food trucks during this year’s event.
Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Festival
Taking place on July 7, 8, and 9, this year’s Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Festival will be a celebration of cultural diversity. Visitors to Bannerman Park in St. Johns are invited to enjoy music, crafts, and refreshments. Moreover, by bringing back some beloved old customs and introducing new ones, this year’s festival will celebrate the province’s distinctive history and heritage.
