Manitoba invited 181 candidates in the 3rd draw of 2020

The central province of Canada, Manitoba has a popular nominee program known as the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP). Through this program, prospective candidates with skills and experience required by the province are selected to apply for provincial nomination. Introduced in April 2014, the MPNP has conducted 82 draws as of today.

The 82nd MPNP Draw:

On 30th January, Manitoba conducted its third draw of 2020. The province has invited 181 International student graduates, Skilled workers in both Manitoba and abroad to apply for provincial nomination.  Candidates are invited through three major immigration streams of  MPNP. 

The distribution of the invitees in each stream is given below:

  Out of a total of 181 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs), 11 LAAs are assigned to those candidates who had submitted their profiles in the Express Entry pool. 

Express Entry System:

The Express Entry System is a simple process used by the Canadian government for the selection of skilled workers. It has a hassle-free application process. Applicants with profiles in the express entry pool are selected on the basis of a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. The CRS score is assessed by a number of factors such as age, educational qualification, work experience, and language ability. Also, an additional 600 points are awarded to those Express Entry candidates who are nominated by a province. This effectively increases their chances of securing a permanent residency. Express Entry candidates must possess a valid Express Entry ID, job seeker validation code and genuine work experience in order to apply for provincial nomination.

Expression of Interest:

Submission of an Expression of Interest is the first step for candidates seeking to apply for provincial nomination. While submitting an Expression of Interest, a candidate is required to answer a set of questions. On the basis of answers given by him, an online profile is created. On account of this profile, a candidate is awarded a score out of 1,000. Candidates with impressive profiles get high scores and ultimately invitations are issued to them by the province of Manitoba.

Immigration streams under the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program:

• Skilled Worker in Manitoba:

It is one of the three immigration streams through which foreign nationals with the right skills are selected. The selected candidates should be working in Manitoba in order to receive an invitation to apply for MPNP.  In the latest draw conducted, 124 Skilled Workers in Manitoba have issued invitations to apply for the provincial nomination.

• Skilled Worker Overseas:

Candidates having some connection to Manitoba have a chance of receiving an invitation via Skilled Worker Overseas Category. This connection can be in relation to previous work experience in the province, close family members or education.  If the candidates apply for MPNP through the skilled worker overseas stream, it is not compulsory for them to be present in Manitoba while submitting their applications.

• International Education Stream:

A new measure adopted mainly for students, International Education stream provides a platform to graduates from the Manitoba province to apply for nomination.  A student can be eligible for International Education Stream through three ways:

• Career Employment Pathway;

• Graduate Internship Pathway; and

• International Student Entrepreneur Pilot
