A total of 340 potential newcomers were invited through the provincial nominee draw held by British Columbia on November 9th, this year.
There were two draws that were held and its invites were specifically focused on candidates who belonged to the Skills Immigration and BC Express Entry streams respectively.
Targeted nominees were from the International Graduate, Skilled Worker, and even Semi-skilled worker and Entry levels counterparts of both the above-mentioned streams.
It was noticed that a greater part of the total, that is 287 immigrant candidates were not invited because of their job profile or skill set. They only received invitations because their minimum score requirement was 69 to 94.
In a different draw altogether, candidates who belonged to NOC listed occupations such as retail managers or managers in the food industry were focused on. It invited 53 candidates who have a minimum overlaying score of 104 on their board.
The province of British Columbia since February 2021, is holding a new round of invitations bi-weekly as it is under the provincial nominee program PNP. The draws were resulted primarily because of the hefty number of candidates from designated labor market industry who were associated with the SIRS, Skills Immigration Registration System.
British Columbia since the start of the year has issued 10,000 ITAs overall across many British Columbia Provincial Nomination Program PNP streams.
Details of the BC PNP
The primary aim of the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) is to call for and encourage the international skilled workers who are high in demand to come and settle in Canada with PR status.
The BC PNP is divided between the two most important streams of immigration- Express Entry and Skills Immigration SI. Both of these streams are sub-categorized even further and come under the SIRS, Skills Immigration Registration System. The first step to being able to apply through this system is the registration that you have to do on the official website of the Canadian government. Once you have built your profile you will be assessed and given a score that will be based on factors such as education, skills, job profile, work, and language proficiency.
Those candidates who have bagged the highest scores are then sent invitations that encourage them to apply for a Canadian PR whenever British Columbia will hold the next regular draw.
After receiving the invitation, you are granted a time period of 30 days (1 month) from the day the ITA was granted. During this time period, you are permitted to complete and fill the application online through the PNP online system.
Right after you have submitted your application and all the important documentation required, you are getting a message of the province’s consideration regarding your application in roughly two to three months. IRCC, Immigration, Refugee, and Citizenship Canada will allow you to apply for a permanent residency status under the PNP class just after you are approved and nominated.
The validity of the nomination is for 6 months starting the day of the candidate being affirmed.
Additionally, you will also be granted an extra 600 points in your total CRS score and thus your chances of receiving an ITA (Invitation to Apply) in the next Express Entry draw will be guaranteed.
