In the latest update, Canada has declared to reopen its border for fully vaccinated tourists. So, travelers who have received both doses of an approved COVID-19 vaccination can enter Canada.
With effect from September 7, 2021, all fully vaccinated international travelers can come to Canada. Lately, IRCC has been trying to ease travel restrictions in a phased manner. Opening the border for fully vaccinated tourists is one step in this direction.
Canada opening its border for all travelers
Canada is an immigrant-friendly country and is one of the popular immigration destinations. The government of Canada always comes up with measures to support immigration. Easing travel restrictions is one such measure.
Formerly, Canada was allowing only citizens, permanent residents, and essential travelers to enter the country. There was a travel ban on all non-essential travel. However, now the country has reopened its border for all foreign nationals. The main requisite is that the travelers should have done a full vaccination course. Also, the government of Canada will exempt them from the necessary 14-day quarantine.
Traveling requirements
Travelers coming to Canada must have received the dose of a Canada-approved vaccination and their vaccination course should not be partial. Most of the vaccines need two doses for a complete course.
So, people who have been vaccinated with two doses of AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna, or a single dose of Janssen vaccine are eligible to enter Canada. The country is presently not accepting the rest of the other COVID-19 vaccines.
Also, travelers must have received their last dose of vaccination 14 days prior to taking their flight to Canada.
Checklist before traveling to Canada
- Travelers entering Canada must have an ArriveCAN application. They will have to submit their travel information on the app itself.
- Even if travelers have got vaccinated, they still require to show the COVID-19 test results. They may be randomly selected at the airport for the COVID-19 molecular test.
- Travelers must not show any symptoms of Coronavirus.
- If travelers meet some specific requirements, they can be free from the quarantine requirement. However, they should at least have a plan so that they can spend their 14 days in quarantine if they cannot meet the requirements.
- Unvaccinated people who are under 12 years of age do not need to quarantine if their fully vaccinated guardian is with them.
