The Federal authority of Canada recently announced that there are more countries that have been added to the list of strict border measure rules.
The countries that have been added are Malawi, Nigeria, and Egypt. Until now anyone who has traveled to any of these countries in the past 14 days will be banned from entering the Canadian borders. Earlier, there were seven countries on the list, now after the addition, the total number has come to ten.
Only Canadian PR and Citizens will be allowed in Canada from these above-mentioned countries provided that they produce a negative PCR test at the border. After arriving in Canada, they will be subjected to further testing and then quarantine.
Additionally, visitors from anywhere (except the United States) have to get tested at the airport on landing. It doesn’t matter if they are immigrants of Canada or have been vaccinated. All the travelers are required to self-isolate themselves until they get a negative test report. The travelers need to take the test within 72 hours of travel to Canada.
The newly introduced travel restrictions allow citizens of Canada and permanent residents to enter Canada if they are fully vaccinated. During a press conference, the Canadian government spokesperson said that they will carefully consider adding these requirements in the travel schedule that includes visitors coming to Canada from the United States by air transportation or by roadways.
Last week, a new and concerning variant of the COVID-19 was found in the South African countries called Omicron. The spread has to be monitored and everyone has to be extra cautious of the new variant.
As soon as Omicron had been discovered, on November 26th, the government of Canada announced the travel ban for travelers from Lesotho, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Botswana, Eswatini, Mozambique, and Namibia wouldn’t be allowed to enter Canada.
The new Omicron variant of the virus has been labeled as ‘high risk’ by the World Health Organization and it has also been stated that the spread of this virus around the world will be concerning.
Till now the dangerous impact of the virus is not yet known entirely. However, it is contagious and it is unknown if the virus penetrates inoculated bodies.
In Canada, five cases of the Omicron COViD-19 variant have been discovered and it is possible that there are several others too. The matter is under investigation and still in progress.
It is currently unknown how contagious the variant is, how dangerous, or whether or not it is resistant to vaccines.
To date, five cases of the Omicron COVID-19 variant have been confirmed in Canada and several other possible cases are under investigation.
