British Columbia Held Another Tech Pilot Draw

The province of British Columbia has invited 75 Tech Skilled Workers to apply for a provincial nomination in the draw held on April 29. Candidates were invited through the Express Entry BC and Skills Immigration streams of the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program. Only those candidates were eligible to secure an ITA under the Tech Pilot who had a job offer from a list of 29 qualified technological occupations. Although the candidates who have received invitations through the tech pilot are exempt from the requirement of a full-time job offer, they have to show that the job offer has at least 120 days remaining when they submit a complete application for a provincial nomination.

The technology sector is indeed a major contributor to economic growth in Canada. And the demand for tech workers is rising rapidly in the province. To meet the rising demand of talented tech workers, the BC Provincial Nominee Program launched a Tech Pilot in 2017 and later extended it to June 2020. With this pilot, employers can hire talented foreign workers and international students who can address the tech market needs. In this way, the required growth of the tech sector is not hindered.

How to apply for BC PNP?

First, a candidate must register himself/herself under the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS) of the British Columbia PNP. Then, he/she has to create a profile through the online portal in either of the categories – Skills Immigration or Express Entry BC. After completing these steps, a candidate is eligible to apply for the BC PNP Tech Pilot. Candidates who apply through the Skills Immigration and Express Entry categories of BC are given points based on human capital factors as well as economic factors.
