Maintained Status
Maintained status enables foreign nationals to continue working under the conditions of their expired permit, provided that they have submitted an application to extend their permit before their permit expires and continue to be in Canada.

While maintained status does offer temporary residents the opportunity to continue their studies/ work, it does so only as long as they stay in Canada.

If a foreign national re-enters Canada as a visitor while their application is pending, they won’t be legally authorized to work or study until their application has been approved.

International Students
