Canadian Immigration candidates can now sit for an English test

English language test is one of the quintessential requirements for a Canadian immigration application. While applying for their immigration application, candidates need to submit the results of the English test in order to prove their proficiency in the language. Canada accepts both IELTS and CELPIP English language test results.

Coronavirus: Test centers closed during the lockdown

Immigration candidates could not take an English test at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic due to the enactment of complete lockdown in significant parts of the world. So, the test centers for IELTS and CELPIP were closed, and they could not provide the testing facility for candidates.

Test centers set to reopen now

Candidates waiting to apply for Canadian immigration can now take an English test at the IELTS or CELPIP test centers in many countries. The lockdown restrictions have been eased now in all parts of the world. And therefore, the language test centers have reopened in most of countries. All the IELTS and CELPIP test centers have taken extraordinary and precautionary measures to ensure the safety of the immigration candidates. Preventive steps include using masks and gloves, regular cleaning of test centers, and following social distance in test rooms.

IELTS has confirmed on its website that the General Training exams are currently available in nearly 89 countries. All the popular source countries for Canadian permanent residence have the availability of the IELTS test now. The popular source countries such as Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Egypt, India, China, France, Ireland, Hong Kong, South Korea, Pakistan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, Nigeria, Mexico, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, the UK, Russia, Oman, the UAE, Vietnam, and many others have started the facility of IELTS test now.

CELPIP Test Centers

CELPIP test operates in 6 countries only, which are Canada, the US, the Philippines, the UAE, China, and India. The test is now available in all six countries, including the US, which has become a more significant source of immigrants to Canada.

Immigration options for candidates

The return of all-program draws along with the reopening of IELTS and CELPIP test centers is an excellent opportunity for individuals waiting for their Canadian immigration process due to the language test results. Several candidates might have delayed their Express Entry applications as the all-program express entry draws were put on hold by the IRCC. A large number of express entry applicants come through the Federal Skilled Worker Program. However, between March and early July, IRCC conducted PNP and CEC-specific express entry draws only. Since Canada has now started conducting the all-program express entry draws, candidates shouldn’t delay their language test and take it at the earliest so that the IRCC can process the immigration application on time.
