Canada’s three provinces British Columbia, Ontario, and New Brunswick, announce the latest PNP draw results. The draw was conducted this week, in which qualified applicants are invited to apply for permanent residence.
Provincial governments carefully propose candidates who are well-suited to achieve economic stability and seamless integration into the local labor market. The majority of provinces and territories, with the exception of Quebec and Nunavut, have PNP draws that target people in particular fields like healthcare, technology, and skilled crafts. Using this strategy, governments can fill local labor shortages by luring applicants with specialized knowledge. In order to further improve the selection process, IRCC intends to implement Express Entry draws that are targeted at particular occupations and French language skills.
If the PNP candidate is in the Express Entry pool and receives a provincial nomination. Furthermore, the CRS will automatically award them 600 additional points. The result will be a much higher chance for them to receive an invitation to apply.
A provincial nomination may still be applied for by economic immigrants, but not in Express Entry. They could benefit from this if they apply for permanent residence in total.
Getting permanent resident status is different from being nominated. Candidates must still apply independently to the IRCC even if they have received a provincial nomination. Due to the fact that immigration is a shared responsibility between the federal and provincial governments, this is the case.
The latest PNP draw results June 17-22
Ontario
In the latest draws held on June 20, the ONIP – (Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program) issued invitations to 1,000 candidates under the Employer Job Offer stream. The first draw prioritized applicants in the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker stream, where 426 individuals with skilled trade experience and a score of 36 or higher were welcomed. The second draw targeted 318 foreign workers with job offers in the healthcare sector, requiring a minimum score of 33. Lastly, the Employer Job Offer: In-Demand Skills stream drew 256 applicants in a general draw, necessitating a score of at least 26 for eligibility.
British Columbia
For the BC Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), which accepts Express Entry candidates, four targeted lotteries for the Skilled Worker and International Graduate streams were held on June 20. Invitations were extended to 144 candidates in total.
The largest draw was restricted to 107 people working in the IT industry. The Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS), which has a minimum cut-off score of 90, was used to make the decision. SIRS is only available to BC PNP applicants, in contrast to the Express Entry CRS.
Less than five applicants for priority vocations, and 19 applicants for healthcare professions. And 18 applicants for early childhood educators and assistants were the focus of the remaining three draws. Candidates have to receive a minimum score of 60 to be eligible for each draw.
New Brunswick
New Brunswick’s Express Entry results for the month of July have been released.
In total, the province says 93 Express Entry applications were received during May from three streams, including:
- Employment Connections in NB 21.
- This week’s NB Student Connection is number 10.
- According to Occupations in Demand, 62 occupations are in demand.
In the current year, New Brunswick has nominated 509 applicants for the provincial Express Entry program. Among them, March 2023 witnessed the highest activity, with 186 candidates receiving invitations. Notably, this aligns with the federal Express Entry draws’ busiest month, where a total of 21,667 candidates across Canada were invited. The correlation between the provincial and federal draws in March suggests a possible reason for the increased nomination activity in New Brunswick during that period.
