The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) has seen two draws over the past two weeks, with two Canadian provinces inviting candidates to submit their nominations. British Columbia and Manitoba released the latest PNP draw results.
PNP applicants might have been included in these draws because IRCC had been introducing new selection criteria for Express Entry applicants.
In spite of the fact that not all future draws will be for the new Express Entry categories, the IRCC said that draws for the Express Entry PNP would continue to take place.
Selection category draws mirror many PNP streams. Quebec and Nunavut are the only two provinces and territories that do not conduct PNP draws for certain NOC codes, occupational areas, as well as language proficiency levels. It is common for most provinces to have PNP immigration programs dedicated to IT or healthcare workers. A targeted draw for healthcare professionals is held nearly every week in British Columbia.
Immigration is shared between the federal government and the provinces. Through the PNP, provincial governments are able to nominate individuals for permanent residence who they believe can quickly establish an economic foothold in the province where the nomination is coming from. As a result, governments are able to reach out to people who may be able to assist in filling open positions in the region through this method.
The latest PNP draw results May 23-June 2
British Columbia
In British Columbia, PNP drawings were held on May 23 and 30.
Four drawings were conducted in the province, according to the May 23 results. More than 140 candidates were invited. There were 103 candidates from the Skilled Worker and International Graduate streams (including Express Entry candidates) in the largest draw, aimed at tech vocations. In order to be considered for a visa, a score of 90 was required on the SIRS.
Additionally, 17 healthcare workers were targeted for a target draw, 20 early childhood educators and assistants were invited to a target draw, and fewer than five other occupations were targeted for a target draw. The three draws each required a SIRS score of 60.
151 candidates participated in the largest draw on 30 May from the Entry Level and Semi-Skilled Streams, International Graduate Stream, Skilled Worker Stream, and General Draw (which targeted no specific field or occupation). Scores between 85 and 107 were considered cutoffs for SIRS.
Exactly the same categories were drawn as last week. Among the priority occupations invited were 14 healthcare professionals, 26 early childhood educators, and fewer than five others. All of these candidates had to obtain a minimum SIRS score of 60.
Manitoba
Among the 589 applicants invited on June 1, three streams were represented.
The MPNP – (Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program) invited candidates in two different categories of Skilled Workers. A total of 262 applicants in the first category had previous job experience in the following NOC main groups:

- Front-line Public Protection and Legal, Social, Community, and Education Support Occupations in the Draw

It was not necessary for the additional 240 Skilled Workers to be employed in any particular field for them to be invited. This candidate’s minimum score was 669.
In addition, 31 overseas skilled workers and 56 candidates who are international graduates were invited to participate in the program.
Moreover, according to the Special Measures for Ukraine Act, 29 candidates were invited to a lottery held on May 25. Ukrainian nationals who meet the MPNP eligibility requirements can apply for this category.
