The fourth PNP-specific draw of 2023 occurred for Express Entry candidates, and IRCC issued 589 invitations. The least score under the Comprehensive Ranking System was 691.
Fourth PNP-specific draw of 2023
Candidates who have been nominated by a Canadian province and are already in the Express Entry pool will be drawn specifically for the PNP. This was the fourth PNP-specific draw of 2023 to be held after the most recent one, on March 1, invited 667 applicants. Since then, candidates from all Express Entry programs have been taken into account in all draws.
Proof of Funds revised
The amount of money that Express Entry candidates must be able to obtain in Canada has changed, according to IRCC’s announcement on May 2. Each and every Express Entry applicant must provide proof of their financial ability to settle in Canada.
Candidates in the Canadian Experience Class and candidates for Express Entry who have a legitimate job offer and have legal permission to work in Canada are exempt from the requirement for proof of finances. Even applicants to the Federal Skilled Worker Program or the Federal Skilled Trades Program should be aware of this.
Candidate profiles must now indicate that they still have the necessary amount of settlement finances in order to be eligible for Express Entry.
Every year, IRCC changes the amount. Depending on how many people a candidate needs to be able to support, it is calculated using 50% of the low-income cut-off totals.
| Number of family members | Funds required (in Canadian dollars) |
| 1 | $13,757 |
| 2 | $17,127 |
| 3 | $21,055 |
| 4 | $25,564 |
| 5 | $28,994 |
| 6 | $32,700 |
| 7 | $36,407 |
| In case of more than 7 individuals, for each additional family member | $3,706 |
The Express Entry draws in a nutshell
Following the April 26 draw, 3,500 applicants with CRS scores of 483 got the invitations.
On April 12, 3,500 applicants with CRS scores of 486 were also invited by IRCC. This draw’s candidate count is half that of March, when the IRCC held four draws in a row and invited more than 21,000 candidates, including 7,000 in three of those draws.
In terms of overall invitations, March saw the second-highest number in Express Entry history. Only a draw in February 2021, in which 27,332 CEC candidates obtained an ITA, surpasses it.
A potential restoration to the regular draw timetable occurs in April. Express Entry draws typically take place on Wednesdays every other week until late 2022 and throughout March 2023. Weekly draws were held throughout March.
Additionally, the draws in March and April demonstrated a return to regular all-program draws. This year’s Provincial Nominee Program drawings were primarily program-specific between January and February. However, on February 2, IRCC staged the Federal Skilled Workers Program’s first-ever program-specific draw.
Express Entry
The Federal Skilled Worker Program, the CEC, and the FSTP are three economic immigration programs managed via the Express Entry application system.
While the eligibility requirements for each program vary, they are nonetheless similar in that applicants must have expertise in a skilled field.
A candidate must upload a profile to the IRCC website after determining whether they are qualified for one of the programs.
Express Entry scores and ranks applicants depending on a score they obtain based on their profile using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). When determining a score, the system takes into account a person’s age, education, employment history, and other aspects of their human capital.
The likelihood of receiving an ITA for permanent residence increases with the candidate’s score.
A candidate has 60 days to submit their finished application after receiving an ITA. An immigration officer will examine the application after IRCC receives it and determine whether to approve the individual.
