2023-2025 Immigration Levels Plan
Earlier this month, on November 1, the government published a plan for immigration levels for the years 2023-2025. As the general framework for immigration programs across all business sectors, it specifies how many immigrants will be granted permanent residency status. 500,000 new permanent residents are expected to be welcomed to Canada each year by 2025, according to the 2023-2025 plan.
The Government of Canada will grant permanent residency to 82,880 immigrants through Express Entry in 2023. As part of Canada’s overall immigration goals, 109,020 immigrants will come to the country in 2024 and 114,000 in 2025. As Canada’s labor shortage persists, these goals emphasize the importance of economic immigration. It is estimated that immigration accounts for 90% of Canada’s labor force growth, as well as 75% of the country’s population growth.
PNP targets are the only ones higher than Express Entry targets for economic immigration programs.
Express Entry: What is it?
In order to manage their applicant pool, each of the three programs, the FSWP, CEC, and FSTP, use Express Entry. At least one of these programs is already available to Express Entry candidates in the Provincial Nominee Program.
Candidates’ profiles are ranked based on a points-based ranking system called CRS. It is possible for the highest-scoring applicants to submit a permanent residency application after they have been sent an Invitation to Apply (ITA) that enables them to apply for permanent residence.
Candidate applications are reviewed by the IRCC for approval or rejection after they have been submitted to them by the candidate. By obtaining Canadian citizenship, the applicant becomes a permanent resident of Canada.
