On October 6th, the province of Ontario held a new Human Capital Priorities Stream after a break of two months.
Getting selected for a provincial nomination will directly fetch an extra 600 points to the candidate which will be later added to their CRS score. The Express Entry manages the Provincial Nominee Program which also means that in order to be eligible for a Canadian PR Visa. The 486 candidates invited for the provincial nomination might be qualified for a permanent residency in Canada.
Candidates with a CRS (Comprehensive Ranking Score) between the range of 463 and 467 were invited by the OINP. This time, candidates who were already in the Express Entry Pool were invited and those who have work experience in any one of the listed in-demand occupations.
In order to receive a provincial nomination, you must have one year of work experience in any of the mentioned in-demand occupations listed in the NOC. If they have already been nominated by the province and they work in the in-demand occupations mentioned, they will have the first preference of getting approved to receive an Invitation to Apply.
Till now, 4,851 candidates have been invited by Ontario under the HCP stream.
6,716 candidates already in the Express Entry pool were invited under this stream to apply for a PNP. Last year this particular pathway was very popular for immigrating to Canada.
How provincial nominations help Express Entry candidates get ITAs
When a selected Express Entry candidate also gets nominated from a province they are awarded an extra 600 points to their original CRS score. The extra 600 points make it obvious for the candidate to receive an Invitation to Apply in the upcoming draws.
IRCC, during the pandemic, holds PNP-oriented draws which require candidates to be nominated in order to be invited.
Last year the immigration department of Canada held PNP draws and all program draws that required a CRS score. All the candidates invited last year had scored more than the previously set cutoff.
Express Entry System of Canada
The three prominent pathways to Canada are the Federal Skilled Trades Program, Canadian Experience Class, and Federal Skilled Workers Program are managed by the Express Entry System.
Once in the Express Entry pool of applicants, IRCC grants point to up-and-comers dependent on their human resources factors like age, work insight, schooling, language capacity in English or French, and different elements. The highest-scoring candidates are then sent an invitation to apply in an Express Entry draw.
