Three Canadian provinces, Ontario, BC, and Manitoba, issued PNP results and invited qualified applicants in the latest draw.
Established in 1998, the Provincial Nominee Program was designed to ensure that the advantages of immigration are distributed throughout the country. It achieves this by sharing immigration responsibilities between the federal government and provincial and territorial governments. Today, the PNP is one of the primary pathways for skilled professionals seeking to immigrate to Canada.
Although a provincial nomination does not directly secure permanent residency, it significantly enhances an applicant’s profile. Nominees still need to apply to Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada for PR status. However, receiving a provincial nomination greatly boosts a candidate’s application. For those in the Express Entry pool, it adds 600 points to their CRS score, virtually guaranteeing an ITA in an upcoming draw.
Provincial Immigration Outcomes – October 5-11
Ontario
The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) recently issued invitations to applicants interested in immigrating to the province through the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker Stream. On October 8, a total of 885 candidates were invited, with a minimum score requirement of 48. These individuals were skilled trades workers. In addition, the OINP conducted a targeted draw within the same stream, focusing on applicants with job offers in priority occupations. 841 candidates were invited in this targeted draw, and they needed a minimum score of 52 to qualify.
British Columbia
The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) conducted a draw on October 8, extending invitations to approximately 173 applicants through its Skilled Worker and International Graduate stream. To be eligible, candidates needed to meet specific industry-based minimum scores. For example, in the childcare industry, 44 invitations were issued to applicants with a minimum score of 83, while 25 candidates in the construction industry required a score of at least 89. In the healthcare sector, 21 invitations were sent to applicants with a minimum score of 99, and 83 candidates in the tech sector needed to achieve a score of 116. Additionally, fewer than five invitations were extended to the veterinary care industry, with a cut-off score of 80.
Manitoba
The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) conducted three separate draws on October 10. The first draw focused on candidates in the Manitoba Skilled Worker stream. Moreover, these candidates had to have completed their post-secondary studies in the province. Eighty-two individuals were invited to this draw, with a minimum score requirement of 845 points. On the same day, the MPNP invited 114 applicants under the International Education stream. Finally, a lottery was held for the Skilled Worker Overseas stream, inviting 38 individuals. To qualify, candidates need to have received an invitation from the MPNP as part of a “Strategic Recruitment Initiative.” Additionally, they needed to achieve a minimum score of 711.
