Quebec has its own set of immigration programs and Quebec Experience Program (PEQ) is one of them.
This program is highly recommended to those individuals who have had legal working experience in Quebec along with expert language skills in the French language.
PEQ works way faster than the Quebec Skilled Worker Program.
What are the requirements of the Quebec Experience Program?
- Applying for a Quebec Selection Certificate will enable you to apply for becoming a permanent resident in Canada.
- The applicants must showcase clear intentions of putting up in Quebec for a job.
- They must also possess work experience in Quebec or study experience by following the proper regulations of the country.
- Must also possess advanced knowledge of Oral French language skills.
- The accompanying spouse is also liable to prove his or her efficiency in French.
- They must be able to demonstrate that they are financially capable of taking care of the needs of their spouses and dependent children too.
- The above undertaking must be included in the application for the Quebec Selection Certificate.
- The applicant must possess a valid passport and his age must be 18 years.

Other requirements- PEQ
- You will also need to show attested documents of having pursued a minimum three-year French course at the Secondary and Post- Secondary level.
- Attested documents displaying that you complete an advanced French language course at an intermediate level. Those who choose this step will also get an advantage by being called for an interview to demonstrate how well versed they are with the French language.
- You will also need to submit a regular license from a professional order in Quebec.

Quebec Experience Program- International Students
The following are the requirements that international students must meet to apply for Quebec Experience Program (PEQ):
- As an international student, you must have stayed in Quebec temporarily with the intention of studying and also followed all regulations during your stay.
- While studying, the international student must have experience of living in Quebec for half a period of the studies.
- They must be staying legally in Quebec while they submit their application.
- They must have an eligible diploma in Quebec.
Instructions for Applicants- Technical studies, Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral Degree
- They must possess a minimum of 12 months of work experience under the NOC classification based on skill levels O, A, and B.
- The applicant must be employed at the time of application submission.
Instructions for Applicants- Vocational Studies Diploma
- The total work experience required is 18 months in the recent 36 months.
- Your work experience must fit under the NOC skill levels O, A, B, and C.
- NOC skill type C must be relevant to your field of study.
International Candidates under a study program must make sure that they fulfill the requirements of PEQ. There are specific educational programs that do not align with the PEQ requirements, they have listed below:
- Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree don’t meet the PEQ requirements.
- The Diploma of Vocational Studies (DEP) shows 18 hours of study time.
- Diploma of College Studies and Technical Training is yet another educational program that doesn’t fit the PEQ criterion.
- Diploma of Vocational Studies- 18 hours of continuing education.
General guidelines- PEQ
- The PEQ applications are paper-based applications that need to be submitted to MIFI in hard copy.
- Meeting all the requirements of PEQ implies that the applicants can apply for Quebec Selection Certificate CSQ whenever required.
- PEQ applications are devoid of Quota and applications are accepted irrespective of the time limit.
Quebec Immigration Program- Temporary Foreign Workers
Specific requirements have to be met by the temporary foreign workers, which are as follows:
- The applicant must be living in Quebec legally as a temporary foreign worker or he could be living under Youth Exchange Programs including Working Holiday, International Co-Internship Permit, and Young Professionals.
- There is no room for part-time work in this program.
- An experience of at least 24 months of the total period of 36 months once they submit their application. It must be full-time job experience at technical, professional, and management levels with respect to the NOC classification of skill types A, O, and B.
Introduction of the new PEQ regulations
New PEQ guidelines had been introduced on July 22, 2020, leading to a series of changes in the selection criteria also.
Previous PEQ selection criteria
- Earlier as per the previous guidelines, students were not asked to show any work experience.
- Temporary workers were supposed to have 36 months of work experience under the NOC skill type A, O, B, C, and D levels.
What measures have been taken due to the transition?
- Those foreign students who had earlier obtained their Diplomas under the PEQ, and are likely to obtain them on December 31, 2020, can apply for permanent selection depending on the conditions of selection before the new regulation’s introduction date of July 22, 2020.
- Submission of Permanent Selection Application: Temporary Foreign Workers who have been issued a valid work permit or any other authority to work under the IRCC along with those who were considered living in Quebec as of July 21, 2020, are among those who can submit the application to conditions applying from July 22, 2020.
- The French course attested documents will continue to be treated as essential proof of any person who has pursued the advanced French language course, is in process of completing the course, or has it registered on July 21, 2020.
