The Immigration department of Quebec invited 515 immigrants to apply for a permanent residency on August 12th.
It is said to be the biggest draw of the year. On the other hand, details of the newest round of invitations have been released today.
The Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration (MIFI), called for potential immigrants under the Quebec Regular Skilled Worker Program. Especially the ones who have filed an Expression of Interest (EOI) on Quebec’s online portal- Arrima.
Filing an EOI enables a candidate to ask Quebec’s Ministry of Immigration for consideration in Quebec Selection Certificate (CSQ). Expression of Interest is not an application. If a candidate receives a CSQ, he or she can apply for a permanent residency with the federal government.
After the new QRSWP system, this may be the first round of invitations distributed.
Selected candidates are subcategorized for the following reasons:
- If the candidate has a score of 591 and more in Arrima expression of interest bank and their occupation is enlisted among the targeted audience.
- If their job is valid outside the Montreal Metropolitan area.
- If they are a resident of Quebec as a consular officer, an employee, or a representative of the United Nations or any other such intergovernmental institution in the province.
- The fourth and the most important requirement is that the candidate must be self-employed.
Since the start of 2021, Quebec has been busy conducting rounds of invitations every month. This new draw is supposedly the sixth draw held by Quebec, this year. The province’s immigration-related programs depend upon the selection-based criteria and programs other than the Canada Immigration program.
A whopping number of 1,060 candidates have been invited by Quebec to apply for a permanent selection.
Anyhow, it is the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship India (IRCC) that gives a final nod on all immigration applications.
What is the Arrima Expression of Interest Pool?
Arrima aims to simplify the process of application that was previously effective on a ‘first-come, first-serve approach. It was formally introduced in 2018 to supervise the pool of QRSWP applicants.
If a candidate is 18 years of age and is interested to immigrate to Quebec, they must create an EOI profile for the same on Arrima. Only after applying, they will be scrutinized with the other candidates based on score and the eligibility of meeting the criteria.
According to the new scoring system that Quebec launched in July. The available 1,320 points are distributed between human capital factors and the province’s labour market requirements.
The human capital area sums up 580 points and curates on factors like French language ability, age, education, work experience, and bilingual ability.
The labour market itself has 740 points that include factors like, education in Quebec province, work experience in any field where there is a shortage, work experience inside and outside the Greater Montreal area. The very last criteria carry weight as working outside Montreal grants 380 points while working in the Montreal vicinity can fetch 180 points.
The most qualified candidates are invited by MIFI to apply for a permanent residency selection. Each candidate is granted a timeframe of 60 days to be able to complete and submit the immigration application and all the related proceedings. Quebec then calls for all the candidates who have provided their details within six months, to issue a CSQ.
The future of Planned Immigration Levels
The Province of Quebec and the federal government together have been dedicatedly working on increasing the immigration target for the years ahead.
Till now (2021), Quebec commits to welcome almost 47,000 immigrants. While Canada itself has launched a series of immigration programs that will help it to welcome over 400,000 immigrants in the coming years.
