Results for the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) were released this week in Manitoba, Ontario, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia.
Except for Quebec and Nunavut, most of Canada’s provinces and territories have programs for provincial nominees. These programs accept applications from candidates who are interested in relocating to Canada. For eligible candidates, PNP can be the first step towards achieving permanent residency by maximizing the CRS score. A nomination increases a PNP candidate’s score by 600 points if they have an Express Entry profile. Furthermore, they become eligible for a round of invitations specific to the PNP.
The PNP initially welcomed 400 immigrants after its launch in 1998, but now welcomes more than 80,000 immigrants every year because of its success. Federal and provincial governments consider the PNP to be an effective tool for promoting economic growth in Canada, which is why the number of PNP admissions has grown.
There are two Express Entry draws per week. After a lengthy hiatus, IRCC is now holding a fresh round of Express Entry draws. July 6 marked the first draw since 2020. As of August 31, 2750 invitations with a minimum CRS of 516 were issued with the Express Entry draw being held on a weekly basis.
Results of the August 26–September 1 PNP draw
Saskatchewan
September 1 was the day of the biggest draw in 2022 in Saskatchewan. Using SINP – (the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program), the government invited 941 immigrants in July from the Occupations-In-Demand categories and Express Entry.
Applicants for Express Entry and Occupations-In-Demand were invited by the province in 312 cases and 629 cases respectively. Expressions of Interest were required in both categories with a score of 61. Evaluations of educational credentials were conducted for each candidate invited to the interview.
There were four draws held in July, which invited over 200 applicants each week. There are four draws conducted in August, often inviting over 600 applicants each. Only twice a year, Saskatchewan held draws.
Ontario
This summer, Ontario welcomed 101 Ph.D. graduates and 680 Master’s graduates as part of its Immigrant Nominee Program. Which is Ontario Immigration Nominee Program (OINP). In Ontario, which routinely has the highest number of immigrants in Canada, a third of all new arrivals are welcomed each year.
There hasn’t been a draw for either of these streams since June 1. Candidates who received a score of 37 or above in the Masters Graduate Stream submitted an application between August 30, 2021, and August 30, 2022. There were 26 or more candidates who applied to the PhD Graduate Stream during the same time period.
British Columbia
A request for nominations was sent to more than 254 people on August 30 by British Columbia. It is customary in BC to hold weekly nomination draws.
A targeted draw selected 207 applicants for tech jobs. Invitations were sent to candidates who meet the criteria for International Graduates, Skilled Workers, and Express Entry applications. As well as entry-level candidates, semi-skilled candidates were drawn.
A candidate’s SIRS score must be at least 60 in order to qualify for the targeted regional draw, whereas a candidate’s score must be more than 95 if they are a skilled worker with Express Entry. In the same way as the CRS for Express Entry, the SIRS is only applicable to the PNP under the province of British Columbia.
The following professions were also included in the province’s invitation rounds.
- In addition, 29 early childhood educators and assistants have achieved at least 60 points;
- A minimum of 60 points was earned by 13 healthcare workers.
- A minimum of 60 points was earned by five healthcare assistants.
- A minimum score of 60 points was also achieved by other priority occupations.
