Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau has declared that there are new task forces that have been designed to address uncommon obstruct in the service of the government like the process of immigration application, airports, and passports.
The task force, a collection of a large group of ministers of federal, will look to identify key gaps in these services and review service delivery and make recommendations to improve these factors.
The task force will pay special attention to the immigration processing of applications by recognizing priority areas where the action is required. The aim is to design both long-term and short-term solutions that will reduce backlogs and improve the speed and quality of services.
Trudeau said “we know that service delays especially in recent months are intolerable” adding that “we will continue to make every effort to improve these services in a well-organized and appropriate manner”. With the help of this task force, the government will meet the better-changing needs of the Canadian people and continue to offer them excellent services that they required and deserve.
The immigration backlog in Canada is more than 2 million
The backlog in Canada’s immigration system is 2.4 million.
Between 29 April and 1 June, the number of candidates increased by 257,499. The numbers continue to increase largely due to more people looking for temporary residence.
As of 1 June 2022, there are 1,471,000 backlogs for temporary residents’ applications, which increases by 216,380 as compared to data of 29 April. Although it should be recognized that increment in the visa application of temporary residents is not uncommon.
The backlogs of Express Entry applications are more than 31,600 through programs such as the CEC – (Canadian Experience Class), FSWP – (Federal Skilled Workers Programs), and the FSTP – (Federal Skilled Trade Programs).
All Express Entry Programs will start again from 6 July
The Express Entry draw for FSWP and FSTP has been stopped from December 2020, and CEC has been put on hold in September 2021. Recently, IRCC has given priority to the finalization of Express Entry applicants already in the application pool to clear the way for fresh candidates.
The immigration minister of Canada has promised that all Express Entry programs will start again from July with a six-month pre-pandemic processing service standard. IRCC seeks to fulfill this standard by hiring more employees and also making major investments in the technology of Express Entry.
