On August 19th, over 3,000 invitations had been sent to Express Entry candidates by the Canadian government to apply for a Canadian permanent residence.
This year’s score cutoff is 403, which is one point lower than the last CEC draw. All the invited candidates must be eligible for the Canadian Experience Class with a score that is 403 or more.
Applicants with the lowest score were only found eligible unless they have submitted their profiles before August 1st, 2021 at 10:13:57 UTC.
Why a CEC-only draw?
Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada have two types of candidates from the Express Entry bracket. These are Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) and Canadian Experience Class (CEC). Since last year 16 different types of draws have been introduced.
The reason for holding just these two types of draws is because of the pandemic. Express Entry candidates are qualified for both CEC and PNP, have the highest probability of staying in Canada. A lot of CEC candidates are already residing in Canada because gaining Canadian work experience is among the top eligibility criteria to immigrate to Canada.
Around 90 percent of the CEC candidate in the Express Entry pool are already living in Maple country.
Canada is giving an upper hand to the domestic candidates since they are less likely to run into coronavirus-related hurdles.
More Express Entry invitations every year
As compared to last year, Invitations to Apply (ITA) has doubled up. Till now almost 105,779 invitations have been sent to the Express Entry candidates. IRCC has aimed to allow entry to 108,500 Express Entry applicants by the end of 2021.
The minimum score cutoff constantly fluctuates because of the nature of CEC and PNP only draws. CEC is concentrated into one closed group of applicants that leads it to have a lower cutoff.
They do not compete with others in the Federal Skilled Workers Program. As more and more CEC candidates are picked, the minimum cutoff score dips down more. On the other hand, a PNP candidate scores 600 points effortlessly by receiving a provincial nomination.
More about Express Entry
Express Entry is a system that supervises applications for the three immigration programs, which are; Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker Program, and Federal Skilled Trades Program.
Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) is a score-based system that decides whether you are eligible for an Express Entry program or not. The CRS score is factorized in terms of skilled work experience, education, language, age, etc.
CRS consists of a total of 1,200 points. The majority of the candidates have less than 500 points except for a PNP candidate whose provincial nomination itself fetches them 600 points to their original score.
The highest-scoring candidate receives an invitation by IRCC to apply for Canadian permanent residency. They can officially apply for Canadian Immigration.
