Canada’s five provinces Ontario, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Quebec. and PEI nominate candidates for provincial immigration this week.
The federal government and provincial governments share responsibilities for immigration. A candidate’s chances of gaining permanent residence status are improved when a province nominates them through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). This importance is heightened for Express Entry candidates because they automatically receive a 600-point boost in the CRS after being nominated.
In terms of using the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), Quebec and Nunavut differ. Quebec, in contrast to other provinces, has a special agreement with the federal government. It gives it full autonomy to choose the criteria for its economic immigration projects on its own. This unique arrangement sets Quebec apart from the common framework followed by other provinces by granting it complete autonomy over the design, administration, and management of its economic immigration programs. Contrarily, Nunavut, like Quebec, does not use the PNP. It allows it to shape its immigration policies through unique methods. As well as priorities that are in line with each province’s needs and objectives.

Ontario
In the most recent week, Ontario offered invitations to 5,450 applicants in four different streams.
- Human Capital Priorities Stream
- Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker Stream
- Employer Job Offer: In Demand Skills Stream
- Employer Job Offer: International Student Stream
Three distinct draws for the Employer Job Offer category were included in these invites, and all three took place on August 15. 853 foreign students with scores of at least 61. Also, job offers in technology, healthcare, and skilled trades were asked to participate in these draws.
In addition, the province sent invitations to 375 applicants who met the requirements for specialized trade. And received a minimum score of 30 under the Foreign Worker stream. Additionally, 1,131 qualified applicants with job offers in the technology and health sectors and scores of 46 received invitations.
256 qualified individuals with job offers in high-demand skills. And scores of 23 or above were chosen to receive invites in the third round of Employer Job Offer drawings. These candidates had job offers in highly sought-after industries like construction, agriculture, and other specialized sectors.
The government then announced on August 17 that 2,835 applicants would be invited to participate in the Express Entry Human Capital Priorities stream over the course of a week. These individuals boasted scores of 473 or higher coupled with experience in technological and health-related fields.
Saskatchewan
Saskatchewan released Expressions of Interest (EOIs) for the first time since June 8 on August 16, sparking a new flurry of activity.
The province held lotteries to select applicants for its Occupations-In-Demand and Express Entry streams. The adoption of a fresh strategy in this round, however, was what made it stand out. The province staged six separate lotteries. Each catered to the candidate’s nation of residency and line of work. The province’s selection criteria in these carefully categorized drawings aimed to facilitate recruiting drives by connecting suitable people with employment opportunities to meet the province’s workforce needs.
345 individuals received invitations from Saskatchewan under the Express Entry stream. It includes 23 from Ireland, 224 from India, and 98 each from Poland, Czechia, Germany, Lithuania, Slovakia, and Ukraine.
A total of 297 candidates were invited for the Occupations in Demand stream, including 12 from Ireland, 207 from India, and 78 from Poland, Czechia, Germany, Lithuania, Slovakia, and Ukraine.
It should be noted that each draw requires candidates to have a minimum score of 60 in accordance with Saskatchewan’s selection requirements. This innovative and well-planned strategy demonstrated Saskatchewan’s dedication to meeting labor market demands by luring qualified applicants from a variety of areas. As well as professions that support the province’s aspirations for economic expansion.
Quebec
On August 10, Quebec released the results of its most recent invitation round, during which the Ministry of Immigration, Francization, and Integration extended invitations to a total of 1384 individuals to apply for permanent selection.
