Express Entry is to be replaced by Provincial Nominee Programs in Canada as the top migration route
Canada’s Express Entry program has long been the most popular immigration route.
It is now making way for the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) to replace the FSWP, FSTP, and CEC application management system as Canada’s primary immigration route. A new Immigration Levels Plan (2023-25) for Canada was published on November 1, 2022.
Despite the success of Express Entry last month media reports that Canada’s PNP immigration targets in 2022 will exceed Express Entry expectations.
In accordance with the nation’s recent Immigration Levels Plan, PNP targets for the next three years are at least 900 higher than those of Express Entry.
PNP immigrants will make up 105,500 of the 105,500 immigrants Canada plans to accept by 2023. While those from these three Express Entry programs will amount to 82,880.
As of 2024, Canada plans to add 980 immigrants (110,000) to its PNP program than applications to Express Entry (109,020).
As far as immigration goes, Canada plans to accept 114,000 immigrants through Express Entry and 117,500 PNP applications by 2025.
Immigration to Canada is set at half a million by 2025
The most recent Immigration Levels Plan for Canada (2023-2025) aims to admit 500,000 permanent residents in 2025.
Aiming to continue recovering from its low immigration numbers during the COVID-19 peak. By 2025, IRCC hopes to have accepted 500,000 additional permanent residents.
Moreover, there is a possibility that the Immigration Levels Plan for 2024 and 2025 may change after the next plan is presented around Q4 2023.
