Canada’s five provinces released this week’s draw results and invited qualified candidates through their Provincial Nominee Program.
Canada’s four provinces released this week’s draw results – September 16-22nd
Five Canadian provinces, Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, Manitoba, and Prince Edward Island, issued provincial nomination results between September 16 to 22.
A Canadian immigration policy known as the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) enables provinces and territories to suggest people for permanent residence based on their particular labor market and economic needs. Candidates for the PNP must meet the requirements of the province or territory where they seek to settle. By targeting local economic and demographic requirements, this program significantly contributes to Canada’s immigration strategy.
Please note that terminology and criteria for immigration invitations and eligibility scores may vary among provinces. For the sake of simplicity, all invitations to apply for immigration will be referred to as ITAs, and eligibility scores will be denoted as scores.
British Columbia
British Columbia executed both a broad and a focused immigration selection that included several immigration routes, such as:
- International Graduate EEBC option stream
- Skilled Worker-Express Entry British Columbia (EEBC) option stream
- Entry Level and Semi-Skilled immigration streams
- International Graduate stream
- Skilled Worker stream
Notably, the EEBC stream aligns with Express Entry and can accept enhanced nominations. Across these streams, the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) issued a total of 147 ITAs.
The minimum score required for ITAs in the Skilled Worker and Skilled Worker EEBC option streams was 108. For the International and International Graduate EEBC option streams, the minimum score was set at 111. Lastly, candidates in the Entry Level and Semi-Skilled stream needed a minimum score of 89 to qualify for this draw.
In a concentrated occupational draw, the BCPNP (British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program) issued 78 ITAs to candidates from the Skilled Worker stream and International Graduate stream, including their EEBC equivalents. Candidates with experience in the fields of early childhood education or healthcare were given special consideration in this draw. Candidates needed a minimum score of 60 to be eligible for this draw.
Alberta
Within the last week, two immigration draws were held by the Alberta Provincial Nominee Program (AAIP).
A draw was conducted initially to select candidates from both the Family Connection and Priority Occupation In-Demand streams. Candidate ITAs for 301 or higher were issued to 142 candidates.
Priority Sector participants were targeted specifically for the second draw, which targeted tourism and hospitality professionals. Candidates with minimum scores of 383 who qualified for this draw received 300 ITAs.
Ontario
In the same week, there were two immigration draws held by the Ontario Provincial Nominee Program (OINP). 537 ITAs were issued to candidates who met the minimum score requirement of 41 in the first draw. As well as it was a broad selection from the Masters Graduate stream.
The OINP extended 71 invites to candidates who received a minimum score of 40 or above in the second draw. It also involved a general selection from the PhD Graduate Stream. These contests are a part of OINP’s initiatives to find and recommend qualified individuals for permanent residence in Ontario based on their academic success and skill sets.
Manitoba
Within a week, the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) held four draws for provincial nominees from different streams.
Candidates with a minimum score of 612 were given 298 ITAs in the first draw, which is also referred to as the Occupation-specific Selection draw. This contest primarily catered to people with prior expertise in sales, customer service, and related support positions.
A second general draw for all other targeted occupations was held by the MPNP, and 239 ITAs were given to applicants with a minimum score of 631.
The third draw was held under the International Education Stream, with a focus on candidates who had graduated from a Manitoban educational institution and had abilities that matched market demands. As well as, with no minimum score required, this draw produced 56 ITAs.
The MPNP had previously extended invitations to 27 candidates as part of a strategic recruitment campaign for the Skilled Worker Overseas stream in the final draw. These applicants needed a minimum score of 723 in order to be eligible to apply for permanent residency.
Prince Edward Island
Within the week, two different categories of candidates were drawn through the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP).
A minimum score of 80 was required to qualify for the first draw of the PEI PNP under the Business Impact Category. Moreover, a total of four ITAs were sent out to candidates in that category. Small businesses and entrepreneurs are typically attracted to this category since they can contribute significantly to the province’s economy.
Furthermore, the Critical Worker Stream, a smaller subset of the wider Labor Impact Category, was used for the second draw. The PEI PNP awarded 153 ITAs in this draw to applicants who had previously been hired by a company in the province and had obtained a minimum score of 55. By attracting competent individuals, this stream seeks to meet Prince Edward Island’s unique labor demands.
