The family reunification program is the pillar of Canada’s immigration system. And a family reunion is one of the immigration priorities for the government of Canada.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the processing times have been increased and therefore, Canada could not issue a large number of invitations under the family class.
The IRCC has recently announced to expand the Case Processing Centre which is situated in Sydney, Nova Scotia. Canada wants to reunite the family members faster by reducing the processing times for the family class program.
For this purpose, Canada is setting up new office space and will hire 62 employees who will work exclusively on family class applications. Canada will utilize these new resources to bring down the processing times and invite more people under the family class.
The Nova Scotia – Sydney Case Processing Centre manages several types of family class immigration applications such as common-law, outland spousal, conjugal sponsorship, adopted children, dependent children, and other family members.
Marco Mendicino, the immigration minister of Canada, welcomes this new measure and believes that the increased capacity will allow the department to process the pending spousal applications.
