Over the past two years, public health regulations have compelled students to use the internet instead of attending classes. Canada is already easing regulations for Express Entry applicants who took classes online throughout the pandemic.
In most cases, if more than 50% of the program was completed via distance learning, Points in the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) are not awarded for online education. Nevertheless, as a result of a recent IRCC upgrade, Express Entry applicants are now qualified to get points for Canadian educational qualifications for courses taken online between March 2020 and August 2022.
According to the IRCC website, the new rule is applicable to anybody who completed their Canadian degree, diploma, or certificate online during the eligibility period. Now that the program has changed, these applicants might be qualified for CRS points even if the program had only been done through part-time study, online study, or study outside of Canada.
The IRCC further states that qualified applicants must update their Express Entry profile. The adjustment may have already been communicated to pool candidates through the mail from IRCC.
According to the letter, applicants who have listed an educational qualification should update their profile by responding to three questions in the area of their educational background. In order to obtain the certificate, the questions inquire as to how much in-person instruction, instruction in Canada, and full-time instruction the candidate accomplished. It states that the candidate’s CRS score may decrease if these fields are left blank.
This is how the letter is written:
This is to let you know that your Specific Entry profile will be impacted by changes in how Canadian training credentials are assessed.
If you previously stated having a Canadian educational credential, you must update your profile by responding to three new questions in the section on your educational background pertaining to face-to-face study/examination, study/examination in Canada, and full-time study/examination. completed obtaining the identification document. If these fields are incomplete, your Complete Rating System (CRS) scores could suffer and you could lose the opportunity to be asked to apply for permanent residency.
IRCC asks that applicants update their profile of Express Entry profiles by 2 August in order to give them the best chance of receiving an invitation to apply in the upcoming draw of Express Entry. Every two weeks or so, on average, IRCC holds Express Entry draws, however, there have been times when this timetable has changed. On August 3, the following Express Entry draw is anticipated.
Since inviting 1,500 Express Entry candidates to submit an application for Canadian permanent residence on July 6, the IRCC has been conducting all-program draws.
