On March 30 Canada invited 919 candidates to apply for permanent residence by express entry program.
IRCC (Immigration Refugee and Citizenship Canada) invited only PNP candidates in the new invitation rounds. Candidates who are Invited must have scored at least 785 in CRS (Comprehensive ranking system). 600 points were added automatically to the score of the PNP candidate when they receive their nomination, this makes the minimum score highly enough.
Candidates who have a PNP Express Entry draw invitation are eligible to apply for PR of Canada before 60 days. In the previous round of draw 924 PNP candidates were invited to apply for migration to Canada by IRCC.
The Minister has announced the extension of the work permit for PGWP.
On March 24, the immigration minister attended a meeting to answer the question of when draws for CEC (Candian experience class) would resume, there was no specific date said by Sean Fraser.
Express Entry draws have been paused for CEC (Canadian Experience Class) Candidates by IRCC since September 2021. As per result, CEC candidates who are in Canada are not able to apply for the Express Entry draw. CEC candidates who are working in Canada with a temporary work permit visa are facing the end of their work permit validity. Without an express entry draw, they will not able to get BOWP and extend their stay in this case they may have to quit their jobs or they have to leave Canada.
Fraser said in the committee meeting that maybe there is an opportunity to extend PGWPs, for CEC candidates.
Moreover, FSWP draws have been paused for FSWP candidates since December 2020. There is no information about when the FSWP draw will resume for CEC candidates.
Something about Express Entry
Express Entry program is a system that manages immigration applications of candidates under three processes. Those three processes are, CEC which means Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trade program. Those candidates who are invited for the PNP have already qualified for one of them. This program is based on CRS points. Only Top-Scoring candidates receive an ITA (invitation to apply).
When PR applications are applied by the Candidate, the application will be reviewed by the IRCC officer. After completing this process officers will ask for some biometric verifications and documents. After completing all these processes IRCC issues confirmation of PR.
