On 11 May, a total of 545 candidates are invited through Express Entry to apply for permanent residence in Canada.
Those candidates who were invited had beforehand acquired a nomination through the Provincial nomination program (PNP) and they also required at least 753 CRS points. As a result of specific admissions, candidates had relatively high minimum ratings, an automatic 600 points were added to their ratings after receiving provincial enrollment. Without the enrollment of PNP, the lowest-scoring candidates would have had a basic score of 172.
In the previous round, 829 PNP candidates were invited by IRCC with a minimum score of 772.
FSWP and CEC draws
It is stated by the Immigration Minister of Canada that the Express Entry invitation for the candidates of the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), and Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) will start again in the month of July. Also, the minister acknowledges that he expects most of the new express entry applications of CEC and FSWP candidates to be processed within the service standard of six months.
Since December 2020, Express Entry draws for the FSWP were stopped, also draws for CEC candidates were stopped in September 2021. The processing time of these programs is also more than six months. For those applications which were in the waiting queue, IRCC carried out the short-term interruption to reduce the backlog in the Express Entry which was aggravated by the pandemic.
This short-term change in policy had the effect of reducing the influx of the immigrants of foreign skilled workers into the labor market of Canada.
Nowadays, Immigration has become most important in Canada, and Express Entry becomes one of the attractive pathways for international talents.
According to the data provided by the IRCC, the backlog of Express Entry has been diminished now by more than half from September 2021. Additionally, as compared to 2021 the number of permanent residences has doubled in the first quarter of 2022. Between January 1 and March 31, 2022, 156,000 permanent residence choice was made by the IRCC.
The IRCC aims to welcome more than 110,000 immigrants per year by 2024.
